This only applies to their limited “Fast Track” range (including Inspiron 15 & Inspiron 17 laptops, Inspiron 10 Netbooks, and Studio ‘One’ all-in-one machines), and I should also mention that they don’t guarantee delivery dates, but there’s some pretty good machines there.

Dell always have loads of offers on their products, but a lot of them are  just £10 or £20 off here and there. They also don’t vary much, and are easy to find on the Dell site (although can’t easily be subscribed to).

Rather than overload this site and the Twitter stream, I tend to leave these small offers out and concentrate of vouchers (most of which aren’t published on the Dell site), as well as extra special promotions like their occasional Dell Days of Deals promotions.

Is this what you all want? Would anyone find it useful if I posted every little offer, however small? How about somewhere in between? Or do you just come here for the vouchers?

What would you search for when looking for a Dell discount code? I’ve always called them vouchers, but there’s also a lot of people calling them coupons. There’s also “discount code”, “promotion code”, and I’m sure many more. Any thoughts on how I should be describing them?

I’d also like to take this opportunity to explain how Dell seem to be releasing their vouchers at the moment, at least for home users.

The trend seems to be that there will be a new voucher every week, running from Thursday to Wednesday. At the moment the voucher always seems to be off Studio, Inspiron and XPS, and there’s a minimum spend (normally ranging from £399 to £699).

For a long time the discount was always 10%, and the only thing that changed was the minimum spend, but over the last few weeks the discounts have been 5%.

As I said, the codes usually run from Thursday to Wednesday, but unfortunately I am normally only informed of them on Friday ( and normally very late), so if you are looking for a code and it’s Thursday or Friday, consider waiting till the weekend if you can’t find any. Check our homepage regularly for all the latest offers including vouchers.

These “rules” are only the current trend. It always used to be very different, and even now there are exceptions (we recently had a 2 week code). Codes for small business (Vostro etc) are much more varied, so it’s all pot luck.

Until recently I used to post every offer, including basic discounts, but they don’t seem to change much from week to week, and the offers are posted on the Dell site in quite a nice format anyway, so from now on I will only post particularly special deals, such as discount vouchers or Dell Days of Deals. If you have any comments on this new format let me know. My view is it should make the better deals easier to find.

This new machine is based on the new Intel Core i7 and is aimed at users who want a very fast machine, but isn’t specifically targeted at gamers.

It has a lovely simple but modern piano-black casing, which in my opinion is better for most people than some of the overly fancy cases on some of the high-end gaming machines.

Anyway, I’ll leave the review to the professionals on DesktopReview.com (click here). Remember they are reviewing a US specification model, which may vary slightly from the models available here, but the fundamentals are likely to be similar.
